Created in 1991 as a non-profit organization, IRIS, the French Institute for International and Strategic Affairs, is one of the main French think tanks specializing in geopolitical and strategic matters. Their extensive experience, particularly on European Defence matters, assists French institutions and the European Commission, since IRIS is currently a member of numerous European consortiums working on these topics.

IRIS is the founder of the ARES Group, a high-level network of security and defence specialists across Europe, providing a forum to the European armament community, bringing together top defence industrial policy specialists, to develop innovative policy proposals and conduct studies for public and private actors.

Role in the INDY project

IRIS’ team will be involved in mapping existing stakeholders and procedures for the procurement of energy-supply-related materials at the national level, by doing desk research and interviews. This mapping will lead to an assessment of the appropriateness of current procurement procedures and practices with the specificities of the technical solution developed within the INDY project.
